Will Earthbound Comet Fulfill 2012 Prophecy?

The year 2012 is rapidly approaching, and so is our impending doom, according to many would-be soothsayers. Will the earthbound comet Elenin fulfill the 2912 prophecy?

It's nearly 300 million miles away and barreling toward us. The intruder from deep space, called called comet Elenin, crosses Earth's orbit on its inbound leg and again on its outbound swing around the sun later this year.

Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin discovered the innocuous little comet on Dec. 10, 2010, at International Scientific Optical Network's robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico.

Presently the comet is a faint smudge of light in deep sky exposures. By late August comet Elenin should be visible to the naked eye as a dim "fuzzy star" with a tail. Over a few weeks the visitor will speed across the spring constellation Virgo and toward Leo on its outbound leg. Read more

The Tatzelwurm Lives!

Do recent reports of mystery lizards herald the return of the legendary tatzelwurm to its traditional alpine haunts?

Although the tatzelwurm – or clawed serpent – is the best-known Central European cryptid (see FT208:46–49), it tends to be dismissed as a thing of the past. However, sightings of the creature, or at least of large and unusual reptiles, continue to this very day. Because the tatzelwurm (with its regional names – stollenwurm in Switzerland, bergstutzen in Austria, or basilisco in Italy) is now generally regarded as a “mythical beast”, sightings tend to be reported as escaped crocodiles or “dinosaurs”. Yet they happen in the same regions as the traditional tatzelwurm reports, and are merely updated to fit current tastes.

So, when a boy observed something that once would have been called a tatzelwurm in April 2007 in Upper Austria, where tatzelwurms were seen repeatedly in the 19th century, it was reported as an escaped exotic pet: “A Lizard 50cm long. Unknown reptile in the Enns Valley. The observation, by a 12-year-old boy, has caused quite a stir. He claims to have seen a brown lizard, 50cm long, on the bank of the Enns River near Ternberg.” Read more

Like the gods of many religions, the Biblical god Yahweh had a wife. The fertility goddess Asherah was worshiped alongside Yahweh in his temple in Israel. However, Asherah is unknown except to a few scholars because she was edited out of the Bible - almost.

In 1967, Raphael Patai was the first historian to mention that the ancient Israelites worshiped both Yahweh and Asherah. The theory has gained new prominence due to the research of Francesca Stavrakopoulou, who began her work at Oxford and is now a senior lecturer in the department of Theology and Religion at the University of Exeter.

Lough Dubh Monster: The Irish Hogzilla?

After some wrangling over the point and in response to a anonymous posting at one of Karl Shuker's blog postings (suggesting a hippopotamus as a possible culprit), the easiest and most economic solution would seem to be that it was a feral boar hog, probably mixed feral domestic and wild boar hog. For one thing, whenever there is mention of a white or ivory horn on the snout it means a tusk, since ivory is what teeth are made out of and horns are made out of something else. This point turns up also in discussions of the "Congo Dragons" said to have "Ivory horns" which must also be regarded as references to tusks. The anonymous commentator suggested that if it was only one tusk that was seen instead of a horn, then it could have been a hippopotamus as well as a rhinoceros. And I replied then that a hog would be closely related to a hippo and more likely to turn up in Ireland. It could have been a feral pig wallowing on the mudbank that took the bait when a tasty morsel presented itself. Swine are also opportunistic omnivores which none of the other candidates would be. Did a German Sub Make to Our Hollow Earth?

A letter from Karl Unger, a German crewman from the U-209 submarine, claims that the vessel made it to the hollow earth soon after World War II, says Rodney M. Cliff.

I first learned about German U Boats attempting to reach our hollow earth from a German living in Canada. The book I ordered was from Samisdat Publishers, Ltd, owned and operated by Ernst Zundel. He wrote a book about Hitler sending an expedition to Antarctica. I ordered his book. It was titled, Secret Nazi Polar Expeditions, published in 1978. It related how the Germans had taken a ship with a small airplane on it that they launched from their ship after reaching the ice near Antarctica. It flew over the ice to Antarctica and then back to the ship. But the book didn't say anything about the hollow earth.

Then in 2006 I received an email from Dianne Robbins, author of several books she has channeled from a person she says is Mikos that lives in the hollow earth.

The person Dianne emailed me about was Joe Watson of Talkeetna, Alaska, who had just contacted her saying that he had a copy of a letter written in the German language from a German submarine crewman named Karl Unger, that made it to our hollow earth soon after World War II.
