When it comes to media, the line between truth and fiction is sometimes hazier than the Milky Way. Just ask Star 94.9, the Alabama radio station that aired a mock warning of an extra-terrestrial invasion on Aug. 27 and subsequently sent the town of Tuscumbia into a spiral of panic about an impending bomb attack.
It was all a misunderstanding, or perhaps an initial miscalculation by the local Schols Radio Group's station, according to the Times Daily. The broadcast's joke about aliens taking over the station was only meant to publicize a programming change.
But Star 94.9 got more of a promotional boost than they had bargained for when residents took the aliens' threats seriously. Read more

Flying Triangles: Not “Secret Aircraft”
Nick Redfern says assuming that flying triangles are just "secret aircraft" is a mistake.
I recently had an interesting debate with a fellow researcher of the UFO phenomenon, on the topic of that one particular type of UFO that has become known as the “Flying Triangle.” When the conversation got going, it didn’t take long before I was assured that (in words broadly like the following): “They’re just military aircraft, and still classified. The Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident Continues to Mystify...
Newly released UFO files from the National Archives show that the UK’s most fascinating sighting remains the Rendlesham Forest incident, in 1980, when U.S. servicemen reported encounters with aliens.

The recently declassified documents have set the tinfoil-hat crowd abuzz, though there's no mention in the papers of UFO crashes, black-eyed extraterrestrials or staged moon landings.
Audrey Hewins, an Oxford, Maine, woman who runs a support group for people like her who believe they have been contacted by extraterrestrials, said she suspects the CIA is moving closer to disclosing there are space aliens on Earth. Read more
