These are the 800 year old remains of what archaeologists believe was a witch from the Middle Ages after seven nails were found driven through her jaw bone.
The grim discovery was made during a dig on what is thought to be a 'witches graveyard' after another woman's skeleton was found surrounded by 17 dice - a game which women were forbidden from playing 800 years ago.
Experts say they believe the women are aged around 25 - 30 years old and were found buried in a simple shallow grave in the ground with no coffin or shroud. Read more

First Irish Case of Death by Spontaneous Combustion
An Irish coroner ruled that a man's death was caused by spontaneous combustion.
West Galway coroner Dr Ciaran McLoughlin said it was the first time in 25 years of investigating deaths that he had recorded such a verdict.
Michael Faherty, 76, died at his home in Galway on 22 December 2010.
Deaths attributed by some to "spontaneous combustion" occur when a living human body is burned without an apparent external source of ignition.
Typically police or fire investigators find burned corpses but no burned furniture. Read more

Bidding Farewell from beyond the Grave?
A man in the doorway of a hair salon. A voice on a static-filled phone. A 2:00 AM visit from a dying grandfather. They seemed real at the time; only later did those who experienced these "crisis apparitions" learn their loved ones were dead. Do loved ones bid farewell from beyond the grave?
Nina De Santo was about to close her New Jersey hair salon one winter's night when she saw him standing outside the shop's glass front door.
It was Michael. He was a soft-spoken customer who'd been going through a brutal patch in his life. His wife had divorced him after having an affair with his stepbrother, and he had lost custody of his boy and girl in the ensuing battle.
He was emotionally shattered, but De Santo had tried to help. She'd listened to his problems, given him pep talks, taken him out for drinks.
When De Santo opened the door that Saturday night, Michael was smiling.
"Nina, I can't stay long," he said, pausing in the doorway. "I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for everything."
They chatted a bit more before Michael left and De Santo went home. On Sunday she received a strange call from a salon employee. Michael's body had been found the previous morning -- at least nine hours before she talked to him at her shop. He had committed suicide.
If Michael was dead, who, or what, did she talk to that night? Read more

Why Have 165 People Gone Missing from Cruise Ships in Recent Years?
It's a mystery as bizarre as it is disturbing: why have 165 people gone missing from cruise ships in recent years?
According to the U.S.-based International Cruise Victims Association, 165 people have gone missing at sea since 1995, with at least 13 this year alone — many of them from vessels popular with British holidaymakers.
Cruise ship holidays are enormously popular. According to the Passenger Shipping Association, 1.7 million cruises will be taken in Britain this year (many will be repeat cruises by the same holidaymakers). But what is happening to all these passengers who simply vanish while at sea, never to be seen again?
Are they the victims of a sinister crime wave? Have they had a mishap at sea and fallen overboard, or perhaps chosen to take their own lives?
The sad fact is that, in many cases, no one knows. And for the family and friends they left behind, that only compounds the heartache. Loved ones such as Ruth Halford and her children, who remain in limbo; bereft, baffled and unable to grieve. Read more

Marilyn Monroe's Ghost, Other Dead Stars' Ghosts to Be Summoned at Celebrity Séance
Marilyn Monroe's ghost and other dead stars' ghosts are going to be summoned at Serendiptiy 3's celebrity séance.
If you had the chance to speak with Marilyn Monroe from beyond the grave, there are probably a lot of questions you'd want to ask, right?
Her stuffing recipe is probably not one of them. but that's the top of the wish list for Robin Byrd, a New York media personality who is best known outside the Big Apple for her role in the infamous porn film "Debbie Does Dallas."
And -- unlike most of us -- she may actually get the chance to ask Monroe the all-important stuffing question.
Byrd is one of the Big Apple bigwigs invited to participate in a celebrity seance being held at Serendipity 3, a popular New York-based ice cream parlor that, over its 57 years in business, has been patronized by famous folk such as Monroe, Clark Gable and Andy Warhol, who used to trade paintings for desserts. UFO Reports Increase: Most States Saw August Boom
Although Whitley Strieber said in August that relatively few UFO sighting are reported, Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) says that most states saw an August boom in UFO reports..
Reports of UFOs rose dramatically across the country over the past six weeks - although Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) International Director Clifford Clift says more data is needed over the next two months before any conclusion can be drawn.
The rise in MUFON reports - for some states - appears to have begun sometime in July 2011 and continued throughout August 2011 - and many states saw their average monthly report numbers double or triple (or more) in August. Read more

The Search for Intelligent Alien Life... on Earth
Apparently, not all scientists nowadays are close-minded paper pushers. Astrophysicist Paul Davies of Arizona State thinks we may be able to discover intelligent alien life by scouring the earth for signs of extraterrestrial visitation. Has he been reading Erich von Däniken in his spare time?
If smart aliens exist, they may have visited Earth millions of years ago – and left signs of their technological prowess that should be cheap and easy for us to detect.
So says astrophysicist Paul Davies of Arizona State University in Tempe. Traditionally, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) has focused on listening for deliberate dispatches in radio signals. But in 50 years of searching, this costly approach has drawn a blank.
So Davies suggests scouring our own planet, even our cells, on the off-chance that aliens visited and did what amounts to scrawling "We were here" on the walls. "We can answer the question 'Are we alone?' without picking up messages," he says. "We may see indirect evidence of alien technology based on the footprint it leaves." Read more

The Exeter Incident: An Unsolved Mystery, 46 Years Later
The Exeter incident was a UFO sighting that occurred on September 3, 1965 approximately 5 miles from Exeter, New Hampshire, in the neighboring community of Kensington. The Exeter incident remains listed as unexplained by the United States Air Force.
In the predawn hours of Sept. 3, 1965, Norman Muscarello was hitchhiking home, when a brightly lit 90-foot-wide object silently approached him from the sky, leaving him terrified.
At about the same time, a woman called the local police station in Exeter, N.H., to report that a large, silent craft with flashing lights had followed her car for over 10 miles before vanishing in the night.
Thus began a series of UFO sightings that evening that would forever change the New England town of 7,000 people. Read more

Scientist Builds Working Time Machine
Vadim Alexandrovich Chernobrov, a Russian engineer, claims that he has achieved the goal of a working time machine...
What person hasn't dreamed at least once of returning briefly to a favorite era in the past or seeing a real glimpse of a fantastic future hundreds, even thousands of years from today?
Despite a spate of articles claiming that travel to the past is flatly impossible, physicists like Stephen Hawking and others say it's not.
And now an engineer named Vadim Alexandrovich Chernobrov claims to have accomplished what others say cannot be done—he's built a working time machine.
At least that is his claim. And he says he's tested it and it works. But there are some limitations with its capabilities. Read more

Alien Pig Born after UFO Sighting
Aliens have been blamed for the freakish appearance of a pig born in the remote village of Santa Cruz El Chol in Guatemala
Residents of the South American village have decided that the pig's odd human-shaped head is the doing of visitors from outer space, after strange bright lights were spotted hovering in the sky on the night of its birth.
The poor pig, which is one of a litter of 11, has been described as looking like a cross between a human and something from the Alien movies.
Farmer Laureano Escobar Arias said: 'I was shocked - it was a really terrifying experience.
'It looked like some kind of alien creature.' Read more

Debunking the Debunkers: Beyond Belief and Randi's Million Dollar Challenge
The Daily Grail debunks the debunkers and exposes James Randi's million-dollar challenge for the hoax that it is.
Last week the James Randi Educational Foundation hit the publicity jackpot (Time, AOL, CBC, Gizmodo, Discovery) when it played a central part in a feature on ABC's Nightline dedicated to the topic of psychic powers, with Randi's famous million-dollar challenge being conducted on national TV (officiated by his trickster protege Steve Shaw, aka Banachek): Read more
