A man named Noah with a blurry face and terrible fashion sense says he’s a time traveler. He says in the not-so-distant future, time travel will be widely available and we’re going to meet aliens. Do you believe him? Hopefully not. Any yahoo with a halfway serviceable imagination can cook up a time-travel story. Like this: In the year 2032 Jeff Bezos has replaced 96% of his body’s organic matter with robot parts and now rules as the depraved god-emperor of the western hemisphere. See? It’s easy. So long as no one asks for proof. Do I have proof of the rise of the cyborg-tyrant Bezos? Other than the self-evident truth that he’s literally famed DC Comics villain Lex Luthor? No. No, I don’t. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by a comet, say astronomers..
Sodom and Gomorrah may have been destroyed by debris from a comet, startling new archaeological and astronomical research suggests. Another bombardment from space may have brought on the Dark Ages.
The research, to be presented to a conference at Cambridge University this summer, provides dramatic evidence for an extraterrestrial cause for the wholesale collapse of several civilisations around 2200BC. Read more

Once again, myth has turned out to be based on truth.
It’s time for another edition of “Myth or History?” Today’s question: is the ancient lost city of Tenea, said to have been built by Trojan prisoners of war freed by the Greeks after the Trojan War, myth or history? If you said “Myth,” you were right … until this week. That’s when the Greek Culture Ministry announced that archaeologists “located the first tangible remains” of the real lost city of Tenea. No word on whether they found Helen, her husband King Menelaus or Paris of Troy. Read more

Witches from mythology and folklore are portrayed much differently than modern witches are in TV shows like Charmed and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Nick Redfern reveals why a bit of paranoia in ufology is justified. As the saying goes, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.
In a recent article here at Mysterious Universe I described how, on occasion, people in the UFO research field have fallen victim to paranoia. And, on some occasions, to an almost life-crippling degree. In many cases, the paranoia was provoked by wholly down to earth issues that were misinterpreted and blown out of proportion. A perfect example of one such case: back in the 1990s, I had a friend, Wayne, who lived in a little village in the north of England; a friend who was deeply involved in the UFO subject. Wayne told me that on three occasions across a period of several weeks, an old, black-colored Jaguar car was parked directly opposite his house, on the other side of the road. He was seriously concerned it was the Men in Black, carefully watching him. It was not. Read more

The Jersey Devil is one of the best known cryptids in the U.S. but what is it?
Without a doubt, New Jersey’s oldest, most enduring, and important pieces of folklore is the tale of the infamous Jersey Devil. For close to three hundred years now, Jerseyans have told tales of this mythical beast that stalks the Pine Barrens and terrorizes local residents. The recurring nature of this story begs a few questions: Why have New Jerseyans embraced this legend so steadfastly, and above all others? Is there actually some sort of creature roaming the Pine Barrens of Southern NJ, and if so, what in God’s name is it? Read more

Brent Swancer shares accounts of the Big Grey Man of Scotland.
Towering above the moorland of the southern edge of the Cairn Gorm plateau, in the eastern highlands of the country of Scotland, looms the formidable presence of the mountain known as Ben Macdui. Standing tall with a snow speckled peak soaring up 4296 feet into the grey clouds above, it is the second highest mountain in Scotland, a wild place full of natural grandeur that has inspired legend and adventure, and has generated its share of strange legends as well. Here is a place wreathed in seemingly eternal mists and fog that blanket the area like a thick soup, lending it an otherworldly ambiance, and throughout the ages there has been said to be something from beyond the periphery shifting through that murk, something very large lumbering through the swirling fog to perplex all those who look upon it. This is the Am Fear Liath Mor, the legendary Big Grey Man of Scotland. Read more

Humans have already visited other planets - at least according to these ten people.
Over the last couple of centuries, many individuals have claimed to visit other planets through astral projection or through secret, possibly alien, technology. Since the 1970s, most alien stories have been about small gray men abducting humans but usually staying on Earth, which seems a pity. Here are 10 examples of people who claimed to explore other world Read more
