Gardai are investigating the death of a woman who perished in a house fire.

The body of a mother of three, named locally as Elizabeth Loftus (50), was discovered by fire officers on the floor of her home at School Lane, off the Malin Road, in Carndonagh, Co Donegal, just after 11am yesterday.

Gardai carried out a technical examination of the scene to determine the cause of the blaze, which did little damage to the surrounding furniture. Read more
