A Special Study on Magic
Michael Edmiston attempts to define magic and how it works.
Magic is not dead. It never died, it merely slumbers, just beneath the surface of our modern, materialist, techno-industrial globalized culture. Magic has been with us since the beginning. It is practiced in some form by every culture in the world, and has been throughout history. Today, though we in the Western, “developed” world often pride ourselves on our rationality, our objectivity, on our coldly pragmatic calculations of cost and benefit, we still feel the siren song of the irrational, the mystical, the magical, and it lurks within good luck charms, wishes, knocking on wood, the special “aura” of emotionally resonant objects, prayers for divine intervention, “jinxes”, and even within our civilization’s most ubiquitous and practical products. Hoodoo Papers and Petitions
The written word can have magical power. Here is how hoodoo practitioners use papers and petitions.
In the Hoodoo tradition, one is typically advised to write one's petition on brown paper torn, usually from a grocery type sack, on all four sides by hand. This is thought to make the paper pure. However, there are instances where the practitioner is allowed to cut the paper with a pair of scissors. The use of scissors is seen as symbolic of using weapons such as swords, knives, and daggers against one's enemies. Some situations in which you would cut your petition paper with scissors can include when driving two people apart, or working enemy tricks. Read more

How to Use the Abramelin Squares
The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage is one of the best-known, but seldom-used magical grimoires. The book describes an elaborate ritual whose purpose is to obtain the "knowledge and conversation" of the magician's "Holy Guardian Angel." During the period of the work, which lasts six months, the magician must pray daily before sunrise and again at sunset. Also, during this preparatory phase, there are many restrictions: chastity must be observed, alcoholic beverages refused, and the magician must conduct his business with scrupulous fairness. After the preparatory phase has been successfully completed, the magician's guardian angel will appear to reveal to the magician magical secrets.

How to Make a Poppet
In folk magic and witchcraft, a poppet is a magical doll used to represent a particular person during spell work and ritual magic. Other names for poppets include voodoo doll, mommet, and fetish. Poppets are one of the most commonly used tools in sympathetic magic, which follows along on the theory that “like creates like." The intention is that whatever actions are performed upon the doll will be transferred to the target. Poppets can be used to harm or to heal, so if you create a poppet of a person, anything done to the poppet will affect the person it represents. A poppet can be used for any spell or ritual in which you need to affect a specific person.Materials Needed:
Clay or cloth
Personal concerns of the target person
Red candle
Holy water
White linen
Inside the poppet, add anything you find that is personal to the person, such as nail clippings, writing on paper, blood on a Band-Aid, hair left on a brush, etc. Bless all of the items you are using to make your poppet, be it clay or cloth and proceed to make the doll. Get a clear mental image in your mind of the target person while you are making the poppet. To reinforce your concentration, keep repeating the following chant:
(Name), as you I seeContinue this chanting and visualization until the poppet is completed. Lay the doll on the altar with a red candle. Place both hands over the poppet and will your energy to flow as you chant 3, 5 or 9 times:
(Name) you represent to me.
Though separate you are,Pass both sides of the finished poppet through the flame of the red candle saying:
You are linked as one.
As (Name) your life has begun.
With fire do I consecrate this poppet as (Name).Sprinkle both sides of the poppet with holy water and say:
With water do I consecrate this poppet as (Name).Pass both sides of the poppet through the incense smoke as you say:
With air do I consecrate this poppet as (Name).Keep the poppet wrapped in clean white linen until it is ready to be used in your ritual.

Scientists Prove That Lucky Charms Actually Do Work
Researchers found that golfers given a "lucky ball" managed to sink 35 per cent more putts than those who were playing with an ordinary ball.
They are taken to exams, job interviews and weddings in the hope they will bring good fortune.
But rather than being mere superstition, lucky charms do actually work, psychologists claim.
Researchers told half the golfers on a putting green that they were playing with a lucky ball, and the rest that they were playing with a normal one.
Those with the lucky ball sank 6.4 putts out of 10, nearly two more putts on average than the others - an increase of of 35 per cent. Read more
