Magical Seals: How to Use Them as Talismans

Magical seals are symbols that act as material links to spiritual powers. They can be found in The Greater Key of Solomon, The Goetia, and other grimoires. Ceremonial magicians and witches typically use the seals to summon the spiritual power associated with them. Folk magic practitioners, on the other hand, usually don't perform spirit evocations with them. Instead, they use the seals as talismans.The method below is typical of how magical seals are used in folk magic traditions, such as hoodoo and New Orleans voodoo.

You will need:
If the seal seems too difficult to draw by hand, photocopying is acceptable. You can use a white candle ii you can't find a candle of the right color, but the appropriate color is better. Remember that the more you put into your magic, the more you will get out of it.

Just as using the appropriate candle color is better, so is making and charging your talisman on the day of the week for your purpose. It is also better to make talismans intended to attract during the waxing phase of the moon, and talismans intended to banish something or someone during the waning phase.

First, decide which seal best suits your need, and copy it. Seals are usually drawn to fit into a 2" x 2" or 3" x 3" square.  Once you have the image copied, cut the seal out of the paper.

On the back of the seal, write your petition. Your petition has three parts. First you address the power you are calling upon for help. Some examples might be "First Pentacle of the Sun" or "Furfur." The second part of the petition is your request; "Rekindle my husband's interest in me." The third part is your name or the name of the person the seal is intended to affect. So a seal might say something like;
Furfur
Rekindle my
husband's
interest in me
Name
Charge the seal by anointing it with oil. Dab oil on the four corners and the center, making a five-spot pattern. Then place the seal underneath the candle and light the candle. The seal is fully charged when the candle burns out.

Once the seal is charged, itcan be left on your altar, carried in your wallet, tucked into your pocket, placed inside your shoe, hidden in an object, etc., depending on its purpose. If the seal is for another person, give it to them to keep if at all possible.

If your seal is not for a one-off objective, but for an ongoing condition or power, such as prosperity or astral projection, you should re-charge it monthly. To do this, simply anoint the seal and burn a candle again.
