Alien Invasion Joke Terrifies Alabama Town

Maybe governments are right to cover up the truth about UFOs.
When it comes to media, the line between truth and fiction is sometimes hazier than the Milky Way. Just ask Star 94.9, the Alabama radio station that aired a mock warning of an extra-terrestrial invasion on Aug. 27 and subsequently sent the town of Tuscumbia into a spiral of panic about an impending bomb attack.

It was all a misunderstanding, or perhaps an initial miscalculation by the local Schols Radio Group's station, according to the Times Daily. The broadcast's joke about aliens taking over the station was only meant to publicize a programming change.

But Star 94.9 got more of a promotional boost than they had bargained for when residents took the aliens' threats seriously. Read more

Flying Triangles: Not “Secret Aircraft”

Nick Redfern says assuming that flying triangles are just "secret aircraft" is a mistake.
I recently had an interesting debate with a fellow researcher of the UFO phenomenon, on the topic of that one particular type of UFO that has become known as the “Flying Triangle.” When the conversation got going, it didn’t take long before I was assured that (in words broadly like the following): “They’re just military aircraft, and still classified. But one day they will be unveiled for us all to see – just like what happened with the Stealth fighter and the Stealth bomber.” Read more

Giant, Horned Sea Monster Discovered in Spain

An unidentified 13ft-long sea monster with horns washed up on beach in Spain and has marine biologists stumped.
With its horns, long white body and slithery form, it looks like a mythical beast

But this four-metre long horned creature is only too real - as the stench from its decomposing flesh proved.

The mysterious sea creature was washed ashore in Villaricos, Spain - and tests are being done on the carcass to determine what it is. Read more

The Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident Continues to Mystify...

Newly released UFO files from the National Archives show that the UK’s most fascinating sighting remains the Rendlesham Forest incident, in 1980, when U.S. servicemen reported encounters with aliens.
Dr David Clarke, who has analysed all the documents, said it was topic that recurred far more than any other in the files.

He said that “almost half” of all UFO correspondence directed at defence officials, relates to request for information, or “tip-offs” about the 33-year-old incident. Read more

It's Real: CIA Reveals Area 51 Location

Declassified CIA documents reveal the location of Area 51.
UFO buffs and believers in alien encounters are celebrating the CIA's clearest acknowledgement yet of the existence of Area 51, the top-secret Cold War test site that has been the subject of elaborate conspiracy theories for decades.

The recently declassified documents have set the tinfoil-hat crowd abuzz, though there's no mention in the papers of UFO crashes, black-eyed extraterrestrials or staged moon landings.

Audrey Hewins, an Oxford, Maine, woman who runs a support group for people like her who believe they have been contacted by extraterrestrials, said she suspects the CIA is moving closer to disclosing there are space aliens on Earth. Read more

Is This the Week that Organized Skepticism Imploded?

Lately, several dogmatic materialists, aka skeptics, have had some "skepticism being applied to their own actions and pronouncements, and a number of them are being revealed for the pretenders they are." (Lots of informative links at the end for those who are unaware of what frauds some of these "skeptics" are.)
For many years on this site I've critiqued the demagogic tendencies of a number of the 'leaders' of the modern skeptical movement (see the bottom of this post for some links). I've often faced resistance (and sometimes hostility) from card-carrying skeptics for pointing out the foibles of these so-called champions of science, and the dangers of having such people as figureheads of a movement dedicated to truth and reason - but I had no inkling that in the space of just a few short years the reputations of a number of them would begin coming undone at their own hands. Bigfoot and Electronic Interference

Electronic interference has long been  a feature of UFO and ghost sightings, but is it also part of the Bigfoot phenomenon? If it is, what does that tell us about what Bigfoot actually is?
In the latter part of 2002 and early 2003, British monster-hunter Jon Downes recalls that, with respect to both him and the staff of his Center for Fortean Zoology, “…there occurred a huge ‘flap’ of Big Hairy Men (BHM) sightings throughout the British Isles that we could not afford to ignore and that required our immediate attention. Indeed, such was the scale of this extraordinary wave of encounters that, even as we made firm plans for an expedition in March, a handful of new sightings of large, man-beasts from the Bolam Lake area of Northumberland, England, arrived in our e-mail In-Box in January that prompted us to undertake an immediate study of the evidence.” Read more

The Intranquil Spirit Spell to Make a Lover Return

The Intranquil Spirit is a spell originating in Latin America, but which has been adopted for use by practitioners of many traditions. The spell calls on the "Inranquil Spirit" in order to force a lover who has left to return. To some people, the Intranquil Spirit is a dead soul, somewhat like the classic "unsettled ghost" of England and Ireland - the spirit of a person whose death was tinged with either remorse or violence and who cannot rest, but comes back to haunt the living. The Intranquil Spirit spell is a petition asking the Intranquil Spirit to haunt and torment one's unfaithful or absent lover until he or she returns.
